The technology that I feel will cause a huge impact not only in 2025 but also the future is Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), which is a combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).

It’s true that AI has had some negative consequences like loss of jobs, and also led to the development of malicious applications like deepfake. But it is still the most promising, especially with the combination of IoT.

While the industrial revolution also caused loss of jobs to a small extent, it equipped people to learn about machinery, which changed the course of the world. Similarly, AI and IoT have the potential to enable and transform fraud detection, transportation, medical diagnosis, edge computing, automation of manual tasks, and optimization in manufacturing among other applications.

While AIoT is still at a nascent stage, the intelligence of AI combined with the wireless connectivity of IoT will bring about positive changes in the world if implemented along with ethical guidelines and regulations.

AI is the game-changer for 2025, especially in e-commerce. We already use AI for personalized recommendations, automated customer support, and inventory forecasting, but the real magic is just beginning.

AI-powered visual search will transform how customers buy furniture online. Imagine a customer uploading a photo of their space and AI instantly recommending pieces that fit their style and dimensions.

We’ve seen firsthand how AI-driven chatbots and predictive analytics reduce abandoned carts and increase conversions.

As AI gets smarter, businesses that leverage it for hyper-personalized experiences will dominate.

It’s not just about efficiency—it’s about understanding customers better than they understand themselves.

In 2025, the brands that harness AI effectively will create seamless, intuitive shopping experiences that feel almost telepathic—and that’s a competitive edge you can’t ignore.

If I had one dollar per question asked as to when the next technological revolution would be, by this time, I’d have my very own data center. The answer? AI, no doubt.

I’ve spent several decades working in the realms of cybersecurity, intelligence, and technology, from CTO at the Defense Intelligence Agency to writing The Cyber Threat.

I’ve seen AI change the playing field, especially in terms of security. Already, hackers are utilizing AI to find vulnerabilities sooner than human beings. Which means corporations and governments need to use AI-enabled defenses if they wish to stay one step ahead.

By 2025, AI won’t only support, it’ll lead. It will anticipate proactively, automate, and decide instantly. If firms delay applying AI, they’ll play catchup while threats only get smarter.

The question isn’t whether AI changes everything, it’s whether we are prepared.

AI will have the most impact and it is becoming a dangerous competitor to freelance designers.

Small businesses think they can save money and do copy and design themselves using AI tools. The truth is they can… however copy and websites generated by AI are currently easy to spot.

The copy may be filled with facts but it lacks emotion and connection to the exact audience. It is also unclear where the copy is being pulled from. It could be incorrect, false or plagiarized. The same applies to the artwork.

For larger firms, AI generated materials will not stack up to the competition. It is easy to see the difference between professionally written and designed material. It has a higher level of detail and sophistication and is much more human and able to connect to a prospect. At least for now…

AI is reshaping the business landscape, and over 35% of forward-thinking companies are already reaping its benefits. AI is only as powerful when used in conjunction with human intellect, emotional intelligence and intuitive judgement.

On average, businesses that incorporate AI into their business processes improve efficiencies by up to 40% and reduce operational costs by as much as 30%. It’s projected that AI in marketing could reach $107.4 billion by 2028.

There are seven ways AI boosts marketing effectiveness including: instantly analyzing customer data , generating analytical predictions on customer behavior, copywriting, automating design routine tasks like creating personalized templates, chatbots for customer support, providing real-time tracking insights, and prioritizing leads.

I do believe 2025 will be the year of blockchain!

The pressure put onto huge financial institutions by Elon Musk and DOGE to prove the validity of ledger payments will be unrelenting, and the need for the US to develop new currency sources to reduce the debt will undoubtedly see them switch into some form of blockchain assurance for outgoing governmental payments.

In turn, this will then unsettle the markets in other parts of the world, especially Europe, and they will be forced to follow suit.

We can expect to see a near 10,000X increase in the number of institutions and individuals having their own crypto wallets by the end of 2025, with blockchain backed micro payments becoming accepted in retail stores by the end of the year or early in 2026.

I’m betting on AI as the most impactful technology of 2025. No other innovation in my lifetime has rapidly changed my daily life—and continues to do so.

To start the year, the new U.S. presidential administration is making massive investments in AI infrastructure, Amazon has entered the AI race with its Nova model, and China’s latest DeepSeek is becoming a serious competitor to U.S. tech giants. All the while, giants in the AI space like Google (Gemini), OpenAI (ChatGPT), and Anthropic (Claude) are continuing to innovate their AI models at an unbelievable speed.

Two areas I expect to see a major breakthrough are in video and image generation. I suspect it will get increasingly difficult to distinguish AI-generated content apart from human-created content.

Another hot new trend is AI agents—they’re the latest industry buzzword, but whether they have staying power or fade like the Web3 hype remains to be seen.

Despite the fact that I’m CEO of an AI strategic advisory company, Acuity AI Consulting, I don’t believe that AI will be the most impactful technology of 2025!!

It might be the noisiest tech, and it will probably drive the most market volatility and garner the majority of headlines, but I do think in retrospect we will look back at 2025 as the year that NUCLEAR FUSION really took a massive step forward in commercialisation.

The consequences of cracking this are monumental – an abundant, clean energy source that eliminates dependence on fossil fuels, potentially adding up to $175 trillion to global GDP while drastically reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change (the global economy is worth $100tr today!)

Reasons to be optimistic for 2025: China’s EAST fusion reactor recently ran for nearly 1100 seconds, nearly tripling it’s previous record. The US NIF project achieved net fusion gain TWICE last year (ie more energy output than input, a holy Grail of fusion)

Global investments in fusion have surged to over $7.1 billion, with significant contributions from both public and private sectors. The launch later this year of the SPARC reactor, designed to operate at near-commercial capacity, represents a major milestone.

Tech advancements, particularly in REBCO superconductors, are enabling more compact and powerful fusion devices.

AI (thankfully!) is playing a crucial role, optimizing plasma control and accelerating materials discovery.

The UK’s £410 million investment and similar initiatives worldwide underscore the growing confidence in fusion’s potential.

While commercial viability remains a future goal, 2025 is set to demonstrate unprecedented progress in fusion energy, potentially reshaping the global energy landscape and offering a promising solution to climate challenges.

Email volume grew from 281.1 BILLION emails sent in 2018 to 347.7 billion in 2023, with projections of up to 408.2 billion in 2027. Major mailbox providers like Google, Apple, and Yahoo are investing heavily in new, AI-focused technology to make email safer and more interesting for their users — it’s changing how we interact with our inboxes so while this marketing channel is far from new, it’s back in a big way.

Marketers have a huge opportunity in 2025 to use AI to not just create better email content for increased ROI, but to make it faster and easier to optimize performance through an advancement in email analytics.

AI will (and already is) enabling marketers to shift their time from looking for and investigating inbox problems to proactively avoiding issues and finding opportunities to build stronger relationships with their audience.

It’s a new age of email, thanks to AI!
